Response to Co-Ordinated On-Line Register of Electors (CORE) - Consultation Paper
The Pollen Shop and Scope have submitted a joint response to the Co-Ordinated On-Line Register of Electors (CORE) - Consultation Paper
The CORE project is run through the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister. It is designed to modernise the electoral registration process by introducing standardised electronic electoral registers across the country and subsequently putting in place a national system to provide authorised users on-line access to electoral registration data.
Our response highlights that any system put in place should be capable of collecting information on an individual’s format preference. Although collection of format data is outside the remit of the consultation, we would suggest that it is considered during Phase 2 of the CORE project
CORE will provide some of the essential infrastructure to meet the Government's aims for multi-channeled, e-enabled elections at the local, regional, and national levels, culminating in an e-enabled general election sometime after 2006.
