The Pollen Shop has developed the technology and on-line campaigning structure for Scope’s major new campaign Free 2 Pee.

The Free 2 Pee campaign is encouraging as many people as possible to take part in a Big Night Out on Friday 1 October 2004. Scope is asking participants to visit their usual haunts, plus a few unfamiliar places on the ‘Big Night Out’ and complete a short access survey about each one.

Free 2 Pee will highlight that when a disabled person visits a restaurant, cinema, tourist attraction, sporting venue or bar they have a right to use a toilet. But many building are being caught short by not providing proper facilities.

The Pollen Shop (www.thepollenshop.co.uk) is a specialist communications consultancy that focuses on creating accessible, new media solutions. The Pollen Shop has considerable experience in reaching groups of people that may have been excluded from traditional communication structures.

Andy Davies, Chief Technical Officer, The Pollen Shop said,

“Free 2 Pee is a great project to be involved in. It’s using a fun message to explain a serious point. The Pollen Shop job has been able to deliver the interactivity Scope needs to get campaigners and businesses involved.”

Although Free 2 Pee is a fun campaign aimed at encouraging as many people as possible to take part it has a serious side. October 1 2004 marks the introduction of the final stage of part three of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) which states that service providers must make reasonable physical adjustments to pubs, clubs and restaurants to allow disabled people access.
