Developing an accessible on-line Wales
07/02/05
The Pollen Shop is working on a series of projects that are helping to make Welsh Assembly Government's websites fully accessible.
One of the projects we are working on is delivering seminars for technical and non technical staff on how to achieving WCAG compliance.
The training aimed at non-technical staff demystifies what can seem at first a very complicated process. Getting access right is not just something for developers. The WCAG standards only really start to make sense when everyone involved in creating a website understands the general principles.
Andy Davies, Chief Technical Officer, The Pollen Shop said
“It is great that a company like The Pollen Shop is working this closely with the Assembly. We are really excited that we are able to share our expertise.
"Both the public and private sectors in Wales are taking access on the web seriously. There are some really interesting ideas and projects being developed. We hope to develop this training further and make it available to both large and small organisations though our open source policy."
The Pollen Shop is also providing a range of accessibility advice and audit for the Welsh Assembly Government.
