Strategic Alliances

The Pollen Shop has developed a number of long term strategic alliances. We want our ideas to succeed and recognise that, for this to happen, we sometimes have to incubate them outside our company structures. This allows us to develop the most suitable framework over the long term.

The Pollen Shop contributes human, financial and organisational resources to these alliances.

Greater London Action on Disability (GLAD)

Currently there are no specific DET package that have been designed for developers or project managers. We are working with GLAD to modify their existing training to fully meet the needs of the technology sector.

Until this training is developed The Pollen Shop recommend GLAD's generic DET package.

Scope

The Pollen Shop has worked closely with the Scope Campaigns team for a number of years. We provide a technological and project management framework for their Polls Apart campaign. This campaign is working to increase the accessibility of democracy across the UK. We also support Polls Apart Cymru devolved campaign for wales. Apart from supporting the campaign and research aims of Polls Apart we have also helped scope become a centre of excellence in accessible election technology.

Speakability

People with a neurological condition called aphasia have specific issues accessing the internet. We are working with the national charity for aphasic people called Speakability to develop specific services, processes and procedures that fit in with WCAG compliance.

MITA

There is a need for developers with accessible web design skills. The Pollen Shop is working with the MITA project (a collaboration between the pan disability partnership and Cardiff University's eCIC project) to create accessible web design training services . A particular focus for the MITA project is increasing the skills of developers working in the SME ( Small to medium sized enterprise) sector.
